Saint Michael Garicoits wrote...
Humility is like a grain of mustard seed. To the proud it is a very small virtue, despised and repelled by the worldly wise, but chosen by divine Wisdom who has established it as the foundation stone of the whole edifice of Christian and religious life.. If you want to be great, humble yourselves, hide yourselves, be meek. Where do the tall trees come from? From a tiny little seed, hidden and rotting in the earth. It is the only path leading to real glory.
What are the Signs of real humility?
Learn of me for I am meek and humble of heart. (Matthew 11,29). Our beloved Saviour, Jesus Christ, is the real master and teacher of all knowledge, of every virtue and the model of all perfection. (M 410)
