The great progress which we have made consists in dying to ourselves, to the care which we have for ourselves; we have made some progress in self denial and in love of the Cross; we don’t always keep it in mind although our rules and instructions don’t talk to us about anything else. As a strict minimum we train ourselves to be good religious, but if we are not careful we shall not become apostles. If we only want to do what is usually done, we shall not go far!
