Fr. Mario Giussani celebrated his 50th anniversary of priesthood
On Sunday, October 19, the Parish of the Sacred Heart in Lissone, entrusted to the Betharramite Congregation, experienced a day of great joy. The community gathered around Fr. Mario Giussani, SCJ, a son of the same parish, to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of his priestly ordination.
The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr. Mario himself, joined by his brothers from the Lissone community—Fr. Giacomo Spini SCJ, Fr. Guido Pradella SCJ, Fr. Antonio Riva SCJ, and Fr. Carlo Sosio SCJ—along with Fr. Enrico Frigerio SCJ, Regional Vicar, who opened the liturgy by retracing the key stages of Fr. Mario’s formation and ministry.
Since the anniversary coincided with the Sunday of the Dedication of the Cathedral of Milan, Fr. Mario chose to weave this liturgical theme into his homily, inviting the faithful to reflect on the role of every baptized person as a living stone of the Christian community, and on the mission of pastors as guides, symbolized by the bishop’s chair.
At the end of the celebration, Fr. Mario expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the parishioners present. As a sign of appreciation, the community presented him with a precious icon, symbolizing their shared faith and the journey undertaken together.
The celebration then continued in the parish hall, where Fr. Mario’s family welcomed the faithful for a moment of fellowship and joyful sharing.
The day of October 19 will remain engraved in everyone’s hearts as a sign of gratitude and communion for Fr. Mario’s faithful service and ministry throughout fifty long years of priesthood.
