Celebrations in the Rome Community of "Our Lady of Miracles”
On Sunday, June 22nd, the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, the 500th anniversary of the devotion to Our Lady of Miracles was celebrated. The image is kept by the Betharramite Fathers in the Church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli in Piazza del Popolo in Rome.
For the occasion, Fr. Mario Giussani SCJ presided over the concelebration on the 50th anniversary of his priestly ordination, with 8 other priests concelebrating, including Fr. Gustavo Agín SCJ, Superior General; Fr. Enrico Frigerio SCJ, Regional Vicar in Italy; Betharramite brothers from the community of Monteporzio Catone and the General House; the parish priest of the Parish of Santa Maria del Popolo, Fr. Ivan Caputo OSA; and Fr. Walter Insero, a friend of the community and professor at the Gregorian University.
Since that miraculous rescue, by Our Lady, of a child who had fallen into the waters of the Tiber, the cult of Santa Maria dei Miracoli in Piazza del Popolo in Rome has continued through the centuries to this day.
From that day on, in fact, the Virgin of Miracles has never ceased to accompany the Roman people and the city of Rome with her protection and her silent presence.
