From community to community ...

On Monday 11 March, Fr. Gustavo Agín SCJ, Superior General, visited the community of Huay Bong - Muangnam. In the Muangnam residence, Fr. Gustavo met Fr. Chodee John Damronganurak SCJ and Fr. Alfonso Prasert Pitakkiriboon SCJ.

The two fathers are at the service of the Village where about 160 Christian families have been living since the time of Fr. Pierre Salla SCJ.

Later, Fr. Gustavo visited the Fang mission, where a community of PIME priests has been present for almost 45 years. In the Center there are Lahu, Akha and Thaiyai children. Fr. Gustavo visited the founder of this center, Fr. Giovanni Zimbaldi, who is now bedridden.

On the same day, Fr. Gustavo, always accompanied by Fr. Enrico Frigerio SCJ (Regional Superior of the Saint Myriam of Jesus Crucified Region) and by Fr. Chan Kunu (Regional Vicar in Thailand), visited the residence of Huay Bong, where Fr Ahit Kasetsukchai SCJ carries out his ministry. Around 150 Christian families have lived in the village since the time of Fr. Jean Lanusse SCJ.

During the Mass, the parishioners expressed their gratitude to God for the religious of Betharram who have been ministering to the spiritual and material needs of these people for many years. They remembered with gratitude what the Betharramite missionaries did, from the beginning of the mission to the present day: Fr. Jean Lanusse SCJ, Fr. Pierre Salla SCJ, Fr. Pédebideau SCJ, Fr. Ugo Donini SCJ and now Fr. Athit Kasetsukchai SCJ.
