Blessing of the bells at the Church of Corpus Christi, Nottingham
The Bishop of Nottingham, Rt Rev Patrick McKinney, blessed the peal of six bells at the Church of Corpus Christi on Saturday 1 June 2019. Corpus Christi is the first Catholic parish church in the Diocese of Nottingham to have a ringing peal of bells.
This peal, previously housed at the Church of St. Francis Clifton, the gift was generously gifted to the Church of Corpus Christi in an ecumenical gesture by the Church of England Community of Clifton when the Church of St Francis closed. Parish Priest, Fr. Wilfred Pereppadan SCJ thanked all the parishioners of Corpus Christi , Our Lady and St. Patrick and Anglican Community at Clifton especially Bishop Patrick and former Parish Priest of Corpus Christi Fr. Chris Thomas, Regional Superior Fr. Enrico Frigerio SCJ of St. Miriam Region, Fr. Brian Boyle SCJ, Br. Liam Finucane SCJ, Br. John Dawson SCJ, Br. Patrick Leighton SCJ and Br. Gerard Sutherland SCJ for their esteemed presence. There was a sumptuous celebratory refreshment served at Blessed Robert Widmerpool School hall in order to make this celebration a joyous occasion.
