60th Anniversary of the Huay Tong mission
February 27-28 - The Betharramite family in Thailand organized a grand celebration for the 60th anniversary of Huay Tong mission, in the region of Chiang Mai. Huay Tong is a Karen village on the mountains in the Northern Thailand.
Well in advance, all the villagers worked hard to prepare this event, making arrangements for welcoming all the people who would turn out for the occasion.
Monday, February 27 the ceremony began with the Eucharist, celebrated by the Vicar General of the Diocese, preceded by a presentation on the history of the work made by the missionaries for the village throughout the years.
Tuesday, February 28th the solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided by Mgr. Francis Xavier Vira Arpondratana, Bishop of Chiang Mai.
The village festivities were wound up by a communal meal.
Many Betharramite religious came from different communities and joined the celebration.
