Feast in the Parish of Our Lady of Fatima at Bouar
Sunday, October 11, at the beginning of the pastoral year, the Parish of Bouar, celebrated Our Lady of Fatima, the Patron Saint of the Parish.
A week’s preparation toward a solemn celebration of the feast kept the six small sub-stations busy with different prayer sessions, confessions and Eucharistic celebrations. The communities suggested topical issues for the catechesis conducted by Fr Beniamino Gusmeroli scj and Fr Arsene Noba scj: peace, forgiveness, faith, fear of God, love for the enemies, family and youth.
As a conclusion for each topic, the people present were invited to share their views; all were actively involved and they drew the attention on the actual situation of the area they were living in.
On Saturday afternoon, each community brought the statue of Our Lady of Fatima in their chapel and different groups conducted the prayer vigil.
As per tradition, the celebration of the feast was enlivened with dancing and singing; during the offertory procession many gifts were brought to the altar.
The day continued with a meal based on cassava, rice, meat and vegetables, prepared by the women of the parish. The traditional foot ball and basket ball matches brought the day to a close.
