France - Pau
Saturday, May 26 at the Maison St-Michel, the feast of the transverberation of the Blessed Mary of Jesus Crucified was an opportunity for a gathering that was both local and international.
On this occasion there was a big turn-out and some new things too: first the lecture given by Fr. Beñat Oyhénart, superior of the community, about the links between Betharram and the former Carmel; then a solemn Mass presided by Fr Jean-Luc Morin, regional superior, and concelebrated by Fr Stervin Fernando, a young Indian Betharramite now member of the Pau community; the blessing of the statues of Michael Garicoïts and Mariam Baouardy now adorning the chapel choir; the Eucharistic procession enriched by the rhythms and rituals of the churches of Asia (thanks to Fr. Stervin and to two Thai brothers). Finally, for the first time for the feast of Mariam, the chapel organ that gave proof of its power, accompanying the choir and delighting the congregation. Thanks to the some 200 people who were present!
