Ordination to the diaconate of Br. Thiago Gordiano Sampaio SCJ
On Sunday 25 February, Br. Thiago Gordiano Sampaio SCJ was ordained a deacon in the “Sacred Heart of Jesus” Parish in a neighborhood of Belo Horizonte called Nova Granada (Brazil).
The solemn concelebration, in which some Betharramite religious and religious from other Congregations took part, was presided over by His Excellency Mons. Joaquim Mol, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Belo Horizonte who recalled the great work carried out by the Betharramites in the Archdiocese and, in a very special way, in the Parish of Nova Granada for over 60 years.
In his homily, the Bishop reminded Brother Thiago, in key words, of the essential elements of the ministry he was about to assume:
- Being a man immersed in the Word;
- Being a servant of the Altar, who takes care of the liturgy so that it is celebrated with beauty and simplicity and not with a gaze imprisoned in the past;
- Finally, being a man of Charity, of Love, always keeping in mind the reality of the people of God; as the one who can love in a special way – and first of all – the lowliest and the poorest.
