Canonical visit of the Regional Superior in the Central African Vicariate
The first visit of Fr. Simone Panzeri SCJ, Regional Superior, to the Vicariate of Central Africa took place from 5 to 26 March. With the visit to the communities in Central Africa, Fr. Simone thus met all the religious scattered in the four Vicariates of the St. Michael Garicoïts Region.
The twenty-day visit to the Vicariate was an opportunity to meet and spend a few days in the four communities present: Bimbo (Bangui); parish of O. L. of Fatima and communities of St. Michael (Bouar) and Niem.
From the capital Bangui (where the community serves the parish of Our Lady of the Visitation), to the city of Bouar (with the parish of Our Lady of Fatima and the St. Michael community with the mission of formation of the postulants and taking care of a dispensary), to the villages in the brousse of Niem (with the hospital and the parish), and then returning to the parish of Bimbo for the celebration of Palm Sunday.
The Vicariate reflects in its history the meeting between different cultures. Over the years, in fact, it has seen the passage of religious people from all the vicariates of the region and today it is animated by Central African brothers and is projected towards the future with the presence of various communities that welcome betharramites aspirants and postulants.
In the Vicariate assembly, at the end of the visit, the paths of reflection shared were precisely these: the meeting between cultures, the mission of Betharram in Central Africa, the challenges of formation.
The visit was also an opportunity to meet the Archbishop of Bangui, Card. Dieudonné Nzapalainga and the Bishop of Bouar, Mgr. Mirosław Gucwa, the two dioceses in which our communities are present.
