Betharram in Assam
After arriving in India on 19 May, Fr. Enrico, SCJ, Regional Superior, accompanied by Fr. Antony Siluvai, Vicariate Bursar, spent the first days visiting the missions in Assam: Hojai, Langting and Hattikali,(mission centres with attached school entrusted by the bishops to Betharram); and Simaluguri and Dansila (school and parish founded by Betharram).
The arrival in Assam coincided with the publication of the results of the state examinations of the 10th grade. The schools of Hojai and Langting got, as always, excellent results. Fr. Enrico was able to see once again the dedication of the religious and all the staff involved in the human and intellectual formation of the students. The two missionary centres also have a group of boarders (hostellers), who combine the school curriculum with moments of Christian formation, thanks to the commitment of the religious.
In Simaluguri, which at present accommodates pupils up to the seventh grade, internal examinations are going on. In the campus of this center the construction of the parish church is almost completed. Fr. Enrico, in addition to meeting the religious, had the opportunity to have a brief exchange with the students of the seventh class, who also left their impressions in writing about the activity of the religious and the teachers.
Fr Enrico and Fr Antony also had a meeting with the Missionaries of the Incarnation who collaborate with Betharram in the mission centre of Simaluguri.
