Assembly of the Vicariate of France-Spain
On Sunday 14 May, the religious of the Vicariate of France-Spain gathered in Betharram to celebrate Vespers and for a Holy hour of adoration together with around forty parishioners from the parish of Saint Michel Garicoïts in Coarraze-Nay.
Then, at 9 pm, a candlelight vigil took place in the Chapel of the Resurrection where the Founder's body remained for 60 years, before being exhumed on the occasion of the beatification on May 10, 1923.
The rosary was recited, with meditation on the texts of the Founder.
On May 15, the Assembly read and shared the reflections starting from the NEF editorial of the month of April. Late in the morning the Eucharist was celebrated in the chapel of St. Michael, presided over by Fr. Jean-Marie Ruspil SCJ, who exhorted us to pay greater attention, in our mission, to the little ones and the poor.
In the afternoon, all the religious present attended the funeral of Fr. Jean Baptiste Olçomendy SCJ, and entrusted him to the merciful Father.
The celebration of the funeral was attended by a delegation of 120 people who had come from Saint-Palais, the place where Fr. Jean-Baptiste lived for 48 years.
