Visit to Payao and Phanaseree
June 18 - Fr Gustavo and Fr Enrico visited the Bishop of Chiang Rai, Mons Joseph Vhuthilert. The diocese of Chiang Rai was created recently, and the Bishop illustrated his pastoral task and the precious work done by the Betharramite community in his diocese. It was also an opportunity to thank him for accepting to ordain our two deacons on June 25 in the cathedral of Chiang Mai.
Fr Gustavo and Fr Enrico then continued towards Payao where they met the Betharramite community, Fr Suthon SCJ and Br Phanupan SCJ, and some families from the small parish of which Fr Suthon is the parish priest. After the warm welcome, the parishioners offered lunch to the group of boys present in our center, to our community and to the girls of the center run by the Sisters of the Sacred Heart (founded in San Sebastian, Spain).
The following day Fr Gustavo and Fr Enrico visited Phanaseree, a village where Fr Alberto Pensa SCJ gathered and cared for the first Christian community. Fr Chan Kunu SCJ, Regional Vicar in Thailand and the present Parish Priest, led a prayer session in a household, in which Fr Gustavo and Fr Enrico also participated. The meeting with the entire parish community took place during Holy Mass in the parish church at the end of which Fr Chan and Br Pichet introduced their collaborators and drew a brief history of the community.
