National pilgrimage of the "blind" to the Sanctuaries of Betharram
On Friday, April 22, during Easter week, the Sanctuaries of Betharram welcomed the National Pilgrimage of the "blind", made up of about 180 people, who spent the whole day in Betharram.
Each visually impaired person was accompanied by a guide. From 9.00 those who were in wheelchairs celebrated the Way of the Cross in the Chapel of St Michael, with the presentation of the Founder of the Congregation by Fr. Laurent Bacho SCJ (Regional Vicar in France and Spain).
The others went up the hill of Calvary. Then at 11.00, a meditation in the Notre-Dame Sanctuary was followed by an outdoor picnic in front of the "Saint Michael Garicoïts" Sports Hall.
In the afternoon, the celebration of the Holy Mass in the Sanctuary.
Everyone went home pleased that they had visited Betharram for the first time.
In the 3 following days, Betharram was also the meeting place for 140 teenagers from the Diocese of Périgueux.
After twenty-six months of closure due to the pandemic, pilgrimages can resume.
