Busy days for the members of the Chapter of the St. Michael Garicoïts Region
Betharram - Thursday 20 October: second day of the Regional Chapter. The presentation of the Vicariates continued with the Vicariate of the Holy Land, followed by the report of the Vicariate of the Ivory Coast. The celebration of the Eucharist was presided over by Fr. Piero Trameri scj (Regional Vicar in Italy) and took place in the chapel of St. Michael Garicoïts.
In the afternoon the Regional Superior presented his report on the state of the Region. The capitulars then welcomed Mgr. Marc Aillet (Bishop of Bayonne), who paid them a visit. In the evening the exchanges focused on the pastoral of vocations which is one of the main concerns.
On Friday October 21, the third day of the Regional Chapter, Fr. Jean-Marie Ruspil scj (Regional Bursar) presented the Region's economic report to the Chapter. Many reflections were shared on the theme of the economy of communion. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Father Théophile Degni SCJ (Regional Vicar in Ivory Coast). In the early afternoon, each Vicariate shared the reflections that emerged during the Vicariate Assemblies. A time of personal reflection followed: each member of the Chapter could share the various contributions received, first in different groups, then in the assembly.
At the end, the members of the Chapter joined the elderly religious of the care home to to pray the evening prayer in the chapel. After dinner, there took place the first round for the election of deputies to the General Chapter.
Saturday October, 22, the members of the Regional Chapter worked with the Lay Betharramite, first in a group and then in the assembly. The voting of deputies and substitutes for the General Chapter continued. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Father Jean Paul Kissi SCJ (Superior and Master of Scholastics in the formation house of Adiapodoumé, Ivory Coast).
