60th anniversary of the Betharramite presence in Nova Granada
The long journey leading to the sixty-year presence in the parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Nova Granada, Archdiocese of Belo Horizonte, started on March 5, 1961.
The then Archbishop João Resende Costa SDB had entrusted the parish to the Betharramites and had appointed, as first parish priest, Fr. Enrique Lasuén SCJ. It is also a celebration for the arrival of the Congregation in the Archdiocese as the 23rd male institute. Today in the Archdiocese there are about 50 male congregations.
In compliance with the rules of safety and social distancing of this pandemic time, the parishioners, invited by the religious community and the Parish Priest Fr Francisco José de Paula SCJ, flocked to celebrate a preparatory triduum and the festive Eucharist presided over by the Regional Vicar in Brazil, Fr. Paulo César Pinto SCJ.
