Canonical Visit to the Indian Vicariate

Fr Gustavo Agín SCJ, Superior General, started the canonical visit to the India Vicariate taking part in the Regional Council, held in Bangalore from 15 to 19 January.

Canonical Visit to the Indian Vicariate

The beginning of this important event for the Region Saint Mariam of Jesus Crucified, coincided with the celebration of a very popular festival: Pongal, 4 days of celebration for the abundance of the rice crop and other cereals, of sugar cane and turmeric. Fr. Enrico Frigerio scj, Regional Superior, together with the three Regional Vicars, Fr. John Chan Kunu SCJ (Vicar Regional in Thailand), Fr. Wilfred Pereppadan SCJ (Vicar Regional in England) and Fr. Arul Gnana Prakash SCJ (Vicar Regional in India), held their first plenary meeting. The Council took important decisions concerning the mission of our fathers and brothers in these three Vicariates.

The visit of the Superior General will continue until February 8th and will end with a Vicariate Assembly. This is an important event in the life of the Indian Vicariate where our young religious are called to respond generously to the challenges the Church is facing in India, today.
