New Parish in the land of Robin Hood

On March, 26, Fr Wilfrd Pereppadan scj made the first contact with the new parish Mgr. Patrick McKinney bishop of Nottingham entrusted to the English Vicariate.

New Parish in the land of Robin Hood

Fr Wilfred was accompanied by Fr George Mathew, Br Gerard Sutherland and Fr Enrico Frigerio, who arrived in Olton on March 22 to start his term of office as Regional Superior on April 1. Fr Joe Wheat, Vicar General, was there to welcome Fr Wilfred, who will officially take possession of the Parish in a near future along with two other members of the Betharramite community.

The Vicariate accepted the invitation of Mgr McKinney to come to Corpus Christi parish, Clifton, Nottingham, which has a house large enough for a small religious community. Corpus Christi has smaller daughter church, Our Lady & St.Patrick, a small inner-city church hosting a proud independent community who are the inheritors of the traditions of the Irish who arrived in Nottingham in large numbers 100 years ago.

We wish  Fr Wilfred and the community a fruitful pastoral work, particularly with the poor … but without robbing the rich!
