Tartano celebrates the ordination anniversary of Fr. Beniamino SCJ
The small church of Tartano, a tiny village in the province of Sondrio (Valtellina, Italy), could hardly contain all the faithful and friends who were present to celebrate the 25th anniversary of priesthood of Fr. Beniamino Gusmeroli SCJ (Betharramite missionary in Bouar, Vicariate of Central Africa).
In his homily, Fr. Beniamino recalled the 25 years of his priesthood, almost all of them spent as a missionary at Bouar in Central African Republic: the hardships endured at the beginning and lately (after the war that marked the African country over the past three years), the joys, the projects ... Never did he forget his ties with his native village.
After Mass, as per tradition, the procession with the statue of St Barnabas (the Patron Sant) was held along the streets of the village.
Apart from his family members and the Parish priest, Fr Sergio, many friends were present along with some volunteers who during these latest years have been working in the mission posts of Niem and Bouar.
