Seventh Vicariate Assembly

Sacred Heart Vicariate of India held its seventh Vicariate Assembly from Jan 26th to 27th, 2015 at Mangalore. The meeting was graced by the presence of Rev. Fr. Biju Paul Alappat, Vicar Superior of India along with Rev. Fr. Wilfred Pereppadan, Vicar of England and attended by its members.

The assembly focused on the theme ‘’Vision2020” and the session was animated by Rev Fr Joe Tauro OCD, Ex-Provincial of the Carmelites and the Rector of St. Joseph’s monastery. He focused on some of the challenges faced by the religious in the present scenario.  At the end of the day the Betharram Seminary Community of Mangalore along with the children of St. Michael Care Home hosted a short cultural evening and a short play titled “Body Scan” which focused on the theme Awaken the World. The community was also happy to celebrate the anticipated Birthday of Rev. Fr. Biju Alappat along with Br. Shamon (Scholastic)

The second day the assembly was graced by the presence of Most Rev. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the Bishop of Mangalore who presided over the morning Eucharistic celebration which was concelebrated by the assembly members. After the mass His Lordship blessed the new statues and the Way of the Cross which was followed by the release of the memento in view of the Year of Consecrated Life.  During the day they focused on various mission activities and plans for vicariate. The day ended with the Prayer Service and Benediction which was attended by all the Betharram Lay Associates and Superiors of the neighboring communities which ended with a fellowship meal.
