Opening of the Holy Door in the Basilica of St. Germaine at Pibrac
Sunday, December 20 - The Betharramite community of Pibrac set up a very grand celebration: the opening of the Holy Door in the Basilica of St. Germaine; this Basilica, in fact, was chosen to be one of three Jubilee Churches in the Diocese of Toulouse.
The Archbishop of Toulouse, Mgr. Le Gall presided over the celebration, which was attended by more than 1,500 faithful. It was also the first meeting of the recently created "St. Germaine" deanery, to which two parishes (Pibrac and Brax) entrusted to the pastoral care of the Betharramites, belong.
After opening the door, and after crossing the threshold, the Archbishop blessed a new cross, piece of work made by Sr Mercedes, Benedictine of Dourgne, an artist who produced numerous and beautiful masterpieces including the altarpiece kept in the oratory of Betharram . At the foot of the new cross pilgrims can read the first sentence of the Bull of Pope Francis: "Jesus Christ is the face of the Father’s Mercy”.
