May 14 -Feast of St. Michael Garicoits
On May 14, at Betharram, the celebrations in honor of the Founder were coupled with the Year of Consecrated Life.
Some important people attended the event. First of all, Mons. Ignacio Gogorza SCJ (emeritus Betharramite bishop of Encarnación - Paraguay), who presided over the Eucharistic Concelebration and Vespers. There were also some Religious Sisters, Servants of Mary. Among them ten young sisters who were in Anglet for a session: two from Côte d'Ivoire; two from India; two from South America and four from Europe. For the preacher, Fr Laurent Bacho SCJ, this was a wonderful opportunity to make a connection between the canonization of Sister Mary of Jesus Crucified and the theme of the Ascensio.
After the picnic three events followed : a workshop on religious life with the Sisters; a visit to the tomb of Father Etchecopar with Father Philippe Hourcade SCJ, who underlined the importance of the third Superior General in the history of the Congregation; a prayer session in the oratory of Saint Michael Garicoits, led by Fr Henri Marsaa-Poey SCJ. The grace-filled day ended with the celebration of vespers in the chapel Saint Michael.
The turnout was very good: friends of the Sanctuaries, Betharramite Lay Associates and other faithful working with the religious came to share the joy of this celebration.
