Happy birthday, Fr Gérard Badie!
Saturday, April 18, Fr Gerard Badie SCJ, "patriarch" of the Vicariate of Argentina and Uruguay, turned 90 years old. The laity and religious of all the Vicariate gathered in Villa Betharram at Adrogué to celebrate this event and to thank the Lord for the long journey travelled together.
During the Mass, the catechism children and the "Casa del Niño" honored Fr Badie with posters; some young people of Adrogué learned and recited the Lord's Prayer in French (to make him feel how he is loved in Argentina and a little closer to his beloved France ...).
Then Fr Badie touched the hearts of all the people present, when he said: “I would never have imagined that I might reach this age, mainly because I had health problems since my birth ... When I was born, the doctor took me by the feet and gave me some shakes. Then he took me into the room and said: "If he screams, then he will live." I did not allow him to say the same thing twice: I started screaming and I am still around after 90 years.
I thank the Lord for his goodness to me. Please pray for me that I may be faithful to the end … that I may reach Heaven, as St Michael says”.
After the celebration, we had lunch together, we presented the gifts and we wished all the best to the beloved Fr Badie…
