Summer Mass for the deceased at Olton cemetery
At Olton we celebrated a mass for the dead of the parish in our cemetery (which houses about 6,000 bodies).
Normally this would be on November 2, but we decided to try it in summer July 12 when the weather is warmer. Archbishop Mario Conti of Glasgow presided. He is the brother of one of our parishioners and a frequent visitor. Fr.Austin preached and one of our parish choirs supplied the music.
The beautiful weather gave it more of the atmosphere of new life ... more Easter than Good Friday. And the parish appreciated the blessing of the graves that followed.
