Holy Land - Emmaus
As per tradition on Easter Monday (April 1), a Holy Eucharist was celebrated at Emmaus Nicopolis. Preceded by a pilgrimage, it was presided over by the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Fouad Twal.
The pilgrims (about 50 people) moved from Jerusalem at 6 am and reached Emmaus Nicopolis at 4.30 pm. It took 6 hours (not counting the break) to cover 30 kms.
The novice Abib was one of the pilgrims: "The first half of the pilgrimage was interesting but difficult, the second half was much quieter. I am tired ... I feel a bit of pain, but I am pleased to have walked with the Lord Jesus and the two disciples on the road to Emmaus."
After this encounter with the Risen Lord, we must return to Jerusalem to announce this good news to all .... this is the road we all must go along...
