A soft drink at the end of the Mass added to the festive atmosphere.
The Bishop of Bayonne was on holiday and could not attend this celebration.
It was up to Fr Gaspar Fernandez Perez, Superior General, to give the homily in French, using the language of the heart: it was exactly what was needed in this place and at this time! Simplicity and gentleness in this simple context! Just like the Heart of Jesus.
The faithful were very prayerful, both during Mass and the procession towards the "Garacoetchea" (the native place of Saint Michael Garicoits): there was a pin-drop silence!
The priests of the diocese came in large number. 600 song sheets were prepared, but they were not enough!
In this celebration – held on a week day - many retired people were present along with younger couple with their children: they did not want to miss this important event ... All were happy to take part in this pilgrimage!
A graceful occasion to express gratitude!
