Leaders of different faiths meet for peace talks in Central African Republic
On 18 December in Bouar, different religious leaders met at the youth centre of the cathedral parish, for peace talks.
Civil authorities were also present at the meeting: it was held in a peaceful atmosphere in spite of the crisis the country is going through and the “guerilla” clashes which are still taking place.
The situation in the country is still very complex. The French army concentrated its forces in Bangui, in an attempt to curb the communal violence broken out once again in the capital of the Central African Republic.
In Brussels, the France managed to secure a wavering commitment from the European partners in support of the mission in its former colony, where in the last days dozens of dead are reported.
The main problem at the moment is the violence against defenseless people, who are in need of protection. Humanitarian organizations continue the distribution of water, blankets and food to allow the population to survive with dignity everywhere, in the best possible conditions.
