On April 20th , the Novices of the Blessed Miriam Region along with the guest of the Community went for a pilgrimage, as an event of the Year of Faith, to the Tomb of St.Thomas, the Apostle of India. This Historical place is situated in Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu, South India.
St.Thomas, who was called by Jesus to become one of his twelve Apostles and had a great love for his Master, is known for the proclamation of his faith: Let us also go; that we may die with him! and he uttered that timeless act of faith: My Lord and my God!
According to the tradition, as a missionary he came to India, and proclaimed Christ around the west coast of India. It is believed that at Mylapore (now San Thome), he had met death by the spear, as he was praying in front of the Miraculous Cross. He was buried in the Church at Mylapore and a beautiful Church was erected over the Tomb.
