Jordan - Zarqa
On January 6, Solemnity of Epiphany, the bishops of the Holy Land Co-ordination paid a visit to the Syrian refugees in Jordan and ended the day with a solemn celebration in the Parish Zarqa , entrusted to the Betharramite community. The bishops, accompanied by the Patriarch, His Beatitude Fouad Twal, were greeted by Fr Elie Kurzum scj and Fr Eyad Bader scj.
The "Holy Land Coordination" brings together bishops of different nationalities: American, Canadian and European representing the various national conferences. Their mission is to support, encourage and make known the riches and the difficulties of the Christian Churches of the Holy Land, to arouse greater solidarity among the Western Churches and the Holy Land and to contribute to building a just peace for all inhabitants of this land.
What follows is a quotation from the final communiqué issued by the Bishops: "Our faith was enriched by the strength and fortitude of the people we met: those with whom we shared in a vibrant celebration of Mass in Zarqa in Jordan; those who care for the vulnerable, like the refugees from Syria and Iraq fleeing terror and violence (...). We invite the Christian communities in our home countries and people of goodwill everywhere to support the work undertaken in this region to build a better future. "
