Paraguay - Asuncion
On November 20th in San Jose College, bachelors of 1960 have paid tribute to Fr Marcellin Noutz,SCJ for the 50th Jubilee of their promotion.
By unveiling a commemorative plaque, Mr Luis Alberto Lima Morra spoke about the one who, since his arrival in Asuncion in 1918 until his death in 1963, was devoted to education of youth. Talented for music and poetry, Fr Noutz made history on 12th October 1923: on that day, in the presence of the President of the Republic, he presented "Patria querida" which he wrote lyrics on the tune of "la Madelon", the famous French march. This song was taken by soldiers engaged in the Paraguayan Chaco War, and then it became the anthem of freedom fighters against dictatorship, and that of sports fans in international competitions. Defender of truth and human dignity, Fr Noutz was a great teacher: his memory and his message will last for a very long time.
