Bétharram - Holy Thursday

Lord Jesus,
you give us the Eucharist;
You surrender yourself totally to us:
No greater love can ever exist.

When you give yourself with so much love,
you can see the betrayer coming out;
You know where he is,
and yet you go there too!...
Your disciples are frightened
those on whom you showered all your blessings:
How cowardly they are!
I am quite like them! Alas!
How many times did I imitate them?

You, my model,
you are so quiet,
you forget yourself,
you are so thoughtful,
you continue to love
with a great heart
in the middle of this ocean of pains.
You do all that for me.

Heart of Jesus, you suffer for me.
I come to say to you:
"Create a pure heart in me,
and put a new  and loyal spirit within me" (Ps 50,2)

O divine Heart,
you want to become my heart!
This is your will.
My old heart, give way to the Heart of Jesus!
Disappear for ever, old heart!
Take its place, Heart of Jesus!
I don’t want to refuse you anything anymore.
Enable me to love you.
Amen! Amen!
