Argentina - Barracas
On Saturday evening, March 5th , along with our Deacon Daniel Pavon and our dear friend Adolfo Vasquez, we celebrated the concluding and opening Mass with the boys of the Farm Teresa of Calcutta, a centre working to rehabilitate young people victims of different kind of addictions.
6 boys, after a period of adjustment, spent a period of 6 months of voluntary reclusion following a rehabilitating programme and reflecting on the meaning of life and of their own devastating experience.
The life conditions are very simple for the time being. Everything was carried along with hard work, some donations and a big amount of personal effort.
This farm is a step of a programme set up by our neighbouring Parish Priest in Barracas, Buenos Aires, and carried out by our hermanito (little brother), el gallego Gustavo Barreiro, in order to try and rehabilitate los chicos del paco (the boys of the glue, the drug of the poor); most of them had reached a very low level of moral and physical degradation.
Now that the first step is over, the most difficult bit lies ahead: try to adjust and insert themselves in their own families and surroundings.
Thank you to alL the volunteers dedicating their life generously.
