This year, the Parish community of the 12 Apostles of Zarqa (Jordan) could see reflected in the face of the Child Jesus, the face of many Syrian refugee children who found a shelter in the premises of the Parish for a seven-month-long academic year.

On January 6, Solemnity of Epiphany, the bishops of the Holy Land Co-ordination paid a visit to the Syrian refugees in Jordan and ended the day with a solemn celebration in the Parish Zarqa , entrusted to the Betharramite community. The bishops, accompanied by the Patriarch, His Beatitude Fouad Twal, were greeted by Fr Elie Kurzum scj and Fr Eyad Bader scj.

On February 19, Pope Benedict XVI sent a Delegate to Jordan,  Cardinal Robert Sarah, president of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum, to discuss the plight of the Syrian refugees and to coordinate the aid to the region.

On January 6th six Betharramite Brothers made their perpetual vows in the Chapel of Shobhana Shaakha, Bangalore.

On April 20th , the Novices of the Blessed Miriam Region along with the guest of the Community went for a pilgrimage, as an event of the Year of Faith, to the Tomb of St.Thomas, the Apostle of India.This Historical place is situated in Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu, South India.

On 14 May  the Indian Vicariate will inaugurate the celebrations of the 150th Anniversary of St Michael Garicoits’s death with the First Profession of Br Shamon Devasia Valiyaveetil and Br Reegan Vincent Raj in the Chapel of Shobhana Shakha, Bangalore.

On March 18, the formation community of Mangalore (India) celebrated the Solemnity of St. Joseph and the day of Thanksgiving.

On May 8, Br George Mathew was ordained as a priest by the laying on of hands of  Most Rev Dr George Valiamatam, Bishop of Telicherry, at St George’s Church, Mavumchal.

On September 1st our young people in formation in Ban Garicoïts and Ban Betharram organized a friendly football match to foster the family spirit between the two houses.
