“In a global society, the encounter between people from different cultures is frequent and occurs in the most diverse situations. It is about observing and respecting others, trying not to invade their space. It is like a basic exercise in tolerance that we call “coexistence".
But this is not enough when it comes to daily contact between people from different cultures in a religious community, because we also have to participate in the same life project that involves working together and living in the same house. This is a call to modify the horizons that define our “being together”, no longer to concern ourselves with saving our own autonomy, but to participate in a common path in which we are all invited to “change”.
