Council of the Congregation
On January 29, the Superior General Fr. Gustavo Agín convened the Council of the Congregation in the Generalate, Rome. The Council of the Congregation is composed of the members of the General Council and the Regional Superiors.
Fr. Enrico Frigerio scj, appointed Regional Superior of the Region of St. Mary of Jesus Crucified, was also invited to the meeting. He will begin his service on April 1, 2018.
The Council of the Congregation (which is a consultative body of the Superior General) will examine the Acts of the XXVII General Chapter and will produce guidelines for their implementation in the coming years.
These are the tasks of the Council of the Congregation, according to our Rule of Life (No. 217):
- It instigates the implementing of the decisions of the last General Chapter;
- It indicates the best ways to nurture communion between the Vicariates and Regions, and between the Regions and the Congregation;
- It indicates ways of helping to pool resources for mission;
- It evaluates the choices, which have been made at all levels in regard to their general objectives fixed by the Congregation in the Acts of its Chapters;
- It also examines reports on the financial state presented by the General administration and Regional administrations.
