Rome, February 25, 2012 – At long last! Eight months after the voting of the Rule of Life by the General Chapter (May 2011), the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life has eventually approved the new Rule of Life.

<br /><br />On October 11, P. Gaspar Perez Fernandez, Superior General, blessed the new offices of the General House.

Mendelu, May 11th. One year after the beginning of the restructuring work, the "Residencia Betharram", the new retirement home built on the land adjacent to the Betharramite community of Mendelu (Spain) is finally ready to welcome its first guests. The Congregation gave this piece of land away in order to make possible a "social project".

Fr. Luigi Speziale was raised to the rank of Canon of the Holy Sepulchre by the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Fouad Twal. The ceremony was held on Wednesday, December 5th, during Vespers, in the Patriarchal Seminary at Beit Jala.

On September 11th, the Plenary Session of the Catholic Ordinary of the Holy Land was held in our community of Bethlehem.

Friday, September 21, feast of St. Matthew, the ceremony of admission to the novitiate took place in the novitiate house of Bethlehem.

On the initiative of the Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land, on October 13 there was a pilgrimage to Capernaum "the city of Jesus."

The Vicariate of Italy , organized “community" events to celebrate the closing of the 150th anniversary of the death of Saint Michael Garicoïts.

The third Regional Chapter opened in Betharram on Wednesday morning, October 19, with a reflection on the Heart of Jesus by Father Daniel Régent, a Jesuit. In the late morning, the members of the Chapter celebrated the Eucharist at the Oratory, the room of the Holy Founder.
