Ordination to the Diaconate of Br. Salomon SCJ and Br. Aurélien SCJ
“Beti aintzina. Always forward!” It is with the well-known motto of Saint Michael Garicoïts quoted by Fr. Jean-Marie Ruspil SCJ, Regional Vicar in France and Spain, that the celebration of the ordinations to the Diaconate of two young brothers concluded on January 12, 2025, in the church of Saint-Palais: Br. Salomon Bandama SCJ and Br. Aurélien Emeric Brou Kouamé SCJ.

Fr. Gustavo visits the religious of the Holy Land
The Bethlehem - Nazareth community was glad to welcome Rev. Fr. Gustavo Agín SCJ, Superior General, in Holy Land. It was a joy to have him celebrate Christmas with the community in “St. Joseph’s" Inter-Regional Novitiate. Amidst of this complex situation, his presence brought graces, blessings and happiness.

December 31 - This morning, Fr Bertrand Salla SCJ has died. He was 96 years of age and 76 years of religious life.

Herman and Désiré welcomed as pre-postulants in Adiapodoumé
On Thursday, December 6, in the chapel of the Adiapodoumé community, Hermann and Désiré have officially been welcomed in our study house as pre-postulants.

Olive harvest for the novices in Bethlehem
Every year the farmers of the Holy Land pick the olives from the middle of October till the end of November.

The England Vicariate lost a great friend in Jane Farrell who died on December 6 aged 69 after a long illness.

Diaconal ordination of Br. Oscar Mendoza SCJ
On Saturday, November 30, feast day of Saint Andrew, the Apostle, Br. Oscar Mendoza SCJ was ordained a deacon in St Francis Xavier parish in La Colmena.

In Memoriam…
Mrs Malan Tanoh Renée, mother of Br Kouamé Brou Aurélien Émeric SCJ of the community of Saint-Palais, died on 21 November. She was 74 years old.

The visit of the Superior General to the Central African Vicariate is over.
On 14 November, the Superior General, Fr. Gustavo Agín SCJ, concluded his canonical visit to the Vicariate of the Central African Republic. The Vicariate of the Central African Republic, a “periphery among peripheries”, has an extensive field of mission for the Betharramites who arrive out there and are willing to put their lives at the service of the poorest.

Relic of the blood of Saint Francis of Assisi in the Betharramite Parish of Pistoia
From 25 to 27 October, on the 800th anniversary of the stigmata of Saint Francis of Assisi, the relic of his Holy Blood made a stop in Pistoia, in Saint Francis parish entrusted to the care of the religious of our Congregation.

Canonical visit of the superior general: a source of hope.
Following his schedule for the visits to the Vicariates of the Congregation, our Superior General, Fr. Gustavo Agín, visited the communities in Italy from 29 September to 18 October. The visit ended with an assembly that took place in our parish of Lissone.

Annual retreat in the English Vicariate
The English vicariate had organised the Annual retreat at Shallow ford retreat centre from Monday 7th to 11th of this month.

“In our mission we need to constantly update ourselves, since our responses cannot be like recipes that are repeated, but must be the fruit of a profound evangelical discernment, carried out together, while we are on the journey. We need to entrust ourselves deeply to the action of the Holy Spirit who guides the Church without ceasing and to respond synodally to the challenges and cries of the present. Far from encouraging the immobility of a clericalist dogmatism or the anxious activism of a pastoral pragmatism, we should begin by accepting with realism this time of fragility, of inevitable confrontation, where we are faced not only with the sin of the world in a culture of death, but with the agonies of the Church itself, which have left deep wounds... that still seem open…

On October 9, Mr S.Ravi, father of Fr Pascal Ravi scj, Superior of the community of Hojai-Langting (Vicariate of India) has died.

Floods in Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai - October 2024. In recent days there have been severe floods in Thailand and Vietnam. Chiang Mai has been particularly affected. The rains were due to a typhoon and continued for a week in all Chiang Mai area. The flooding throughout the city is also due to the large amount of water flown down from the mountains.

On October 3, Mrs Adingra Affoua Judith, 58, mother of Fr Serge Pacôme Appaouh SCJ, of the community of Pistoia (Vicariate of Italy) has died.

The SCJ annual sponsored walk took place Saturday 29th of September by the canals which is not far from Olton Friary.

Welcome Fr Aldo & Fr Pietro!
The diocese of Parma is divided into 56 pastoral units (called “Nuove Parrocchie”), each entrusted to a “moderator Parish Priest”. On Sunday, 22 September, Fr. Aldo Nespoli, scj and Fr Pietro Felet scj were officially welcomed as assistant Parish Priests in one of these pastoral units: Saint Francis of Assisi.

On 26 September, Olton Friary hoisted the Annual MAC academy mass and Archbishop Bernard Longly was the main celebrate for the Mass.

On Monday, 9 September, the Parish of Corpus Christi, Clifton and Our Lady and St. Patrick’s, formally welcomed Fr. David Pitak Bithu SCJ as a new Parish Priest.

A day full of grace
